AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to welcome Eduardo Balcells, MD to its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Cardiology at Medical Office Building*.
Dr. Balcells will serve as the Medical Director of Cardiology and lead the development of the new Interventional Cardiology program. He brings with him a wealth of experience in cardiology and a commitment to providing patient-centered care.
Board-certified in internal, cardiology and vascular medicine, Dr. Balcells is also a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. Over the past eight years he has cared for patients at Pardee Hospital, Charles George VA Medical Center and Haywood Regional Medical Center. Now he is bringing his nearly 30 years of cardiology expertise to the growing number of patients choosing AdventHealth for care.
Dr. Balcells was drawn to AdventHealth’s holistic and whole-person approach toward patient care and is excited to be joining us during this exciting growth phase as we work to better serve our community.
Dr. Balcells believes in treating the person, not just the disease, and offers space and time for patients to share who they are.

He doesn’t just prescribe a course of treatment. He is inviting his patients to join him for fitness and wellness classes he teaches. It’s a true relationship with his patients.”
AdventHealth is excited to have Dr. Balcells stepping into this role. He has received national honors for his expertise in patient care, research and education. As Medical
Director of Cardiology, he will lead the work to launch interventional cardiology care at AdventHealth Hendersonville expanding the choices for heart care for people across our region.
Interventional cardiology is a specialized area of heart medicine that uses less invasive methods to treat heart conditions. Doctors use tiny incisions and special tools on flexible tubes, called catheters, to repair the heart or clear blockages in blood vessels. This means patients can avoid the risks of open-heart surgery and often recover more quickly, getting back to their daily lives with improved heart health.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Balcells is married and has five children. He and his wife enjoy spending time together teaching yoga.
Outside of work, Dr. Balcells values fitness, community connection, and improving community resources to better the lives of those marginalized and disadvantaged by health, income, or life tragedies.
