Bowl for Kids’ Sake Fundraiser at Tarheel Lanes on March 2

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina hosts the 29th Annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraiser on Saturday, March 2 at Tarheel Lanes in Hendersonville.

Bowl For Kids’ Sake is BBBS’ signature annual fundraiser, raising at least one hundred thousand dollars for the organization’s 11 regional branches and serving as a vital element in making it possible for mentors to continue empowering the potential of Western North Carolina’s youth.

Held in the late winter by four of the organization’s 11 branches, Bowl for Kids’ Sake brings together almost 200 fundraising bowling teams.

“Creating a team for the Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraiser is a great opportunity for groups of people from companies, organizations, churches or other interest groups to build rapport and create team spirit by coming together to make a positive impact right here in their community,” said BBBS’ Executive Director Robin Myer.

Adding to the color, each year’s event is complete with a special costume theme—and the theme for 2019 is: Mardi Gras!

“I was a Big Sister in college, and learned first-hand the power coaching and mentorship and empowering kids to be more than they might think they can be,” said Molly De Mattos of Keller Williams’ The Matt and Molly Team, who has sponsored a BFKS team for the past seven years. “We just think that if more kids had mentors, this world would be a better place.”

“We’ve been bowling for kids’ sake for years… and we’ve discovered that it’s a really great way to pull our team together and do something for somebody else and have a sense of community,” said Gretchen Schott-Cummins of the Hendersonville Community Co-op.

In 2019, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ goal is to enroll new teams of bowlers for the 2019 fundraising season. For folks who are interested in getting involved, finding out more information or registering a team, visit www.bbbswnc.org/bowl-for-kids-sake or contact [email protected].
