Makerspace Returns to Hands On! Children’s Museum

Hands On! Children’s Museum in downtown Hendersonville is pleased to announce the opening of Makerspace, made possible by Exxon Mobil. Guests of all ages are invited to use their imaginations to design and complete a different themed project or craft each week.

Makerspaces are mentor-led learning environments where children have the opportunity to utilize tools and materials to encourage curiosity and imagination. Young guests can tinker, re-purpose, up-cycle, disassemble and reassemble materials to design and create all on their own. Makerspaces strengthen community-based learning, neccesary for critical thinking, problem solving and engagement in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

Makerspace will take place in the Discovery Room at Hands On! every Friday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm in November. Parents and guardians must accompany their children and are encouraged to work together on their projects. This exhibit is free with $5 admission and free for members.

Hands On! Children’s Museum’s mission is to provide “hands on” educational experiences that stimulate the imagination and motivate learning in a fun, safe environment. The museum is located at 318 North Main Street in historic downtown Hendersonville, NC. Museum Hours are Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed on Sunday and Monday.
