Brevard Music Center Free Community Concerts Return Oct. 3rd

Brevard Music Center, in partnership with Brevard College, is pleased to announce the return of its First Mondays series of free BMC Community Concerts in Brevard.

On Monday, October 3rd at 12:30 pm, celebrated French hornists Elizabeth Freimuth and Hazel Dean Davis will be joined by pianist Koeun Grace Lee for BMC’s First Mondays concert – held at the Porter Center (Scott Concert Hall) on the Brevard College campus. Ms. Freimuth and Ms. Davis are also distinguished faculty members of the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute.

October’s program will include: Brahms’s Horn Songs, Mozart’s Duetta con Coro from Così Fan Tutte, Monteverdi’s Pur ti Miro from L’Incoronazione di Poppea, Fauré’s Puisqu’ici–bas toute Âme, and Kuhlau’s Concertino in F minor for Two Horns.

The popular Brevard-based, First Mondays recital series is presented at no cost to the general public – October through May (excluding January) – on the first Monday of each month at Brevard College. BMC’s series of free concerts in Asheville (Sundays with BMC) and Hendersonville (First Tuesdays) will resume in March through May of 2017.

“Brevard Music Center is proud to continue our free Community Concert Series so that music lovers of all ages and means can be inspired by exquisite classical music and musicians,” said BMC President & CEO Mark Weinstein. “This popular series allows us to give back to the community that generously supports BMC’s educational mission and renowned summer music festival. Please join us!”

Each First Mondays concert also features a local charity highlighting needs within the Brevard community; October’s charity is Free Rein Center for Therapeutic Riding and Education.
