Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard Places in Top Ten in 10Best Contest for Promotion on USA Today

Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard in Hendersonville, NC was nominated in USA Today’s latest 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest.

An expert panel, including a combination of editors from USA TODAY; editors from 10Best.com; relevant expert contributors; and sources for both these media and other Gannett properties, selected Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard as a contender for Best Apple Orchard. The contest was promoted by USA TODAY and gave the public four weeks to vote for the candidate of their choice.

Winners were announced on 10Best on in October. Stepp’s Hillcrest orchard was voted one of the 10 Best Apple Orchards, ranking at number 7.

“We appreciate everyone who voted for us,” said Rita Stepp of Stepp’ Hillcrest Orchard. “We love doing what we do and it’s great to hear that others enjoy being a part of it.”

Stepp Farm’s Hillcrest Orchard is a three-generation owned and operated family farm. The farm offers 38 acres of apple trees with over 20 varieties of apples to pick, maturing from mid-August through October. The farm is open to the public seven days a week from September through October. Pick your own grapes and pumpkins are available in season, as are pre-picked apples, baked goods, jams, jellies, and butters, fresh apple cider, and fresh vegetables. Visitors enjoy farm tours, a corn maze, an apple cannon and more. Buses, large groups, and school groups are welcome.

Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard, located at 170 Stepp Orchard Drive, was Henderson County’s first pick-your-own apple orchard.
