Henderson County Accepting Applications for East Flat Rock Committee

The committee, appointed by the Board of Commissioners, will consist of up to 12 persons including 9 individuals that live, operate a business, or own property within the East Flat Rock Community Planning Area Boundary.

One of the 9 individuals may be a representative of General Electric. The Board of Commissioners will also appoint a liaison from the Henderson County Planning Board. The Board may also appoint an ex-officio member from each of the municipalities that abut the planning area (City of Hendersonville and Village of Flat Rock) to serve as a representative of their respective municipality. The Committee elects its Chair and Vice-Chair (or two Co-Chairs) from its members.

The purposes of the committee are to implement the recommendations of the Henderson County 2020 Comprehensive Plan by working with Planning Staff to develop and recommend a community-specific comprehensive plan for the East Flat Rock Community that outlines the future goals of the area as related to land use and development, community facilities, agriculture, economic development, housing, transportation, access management, etc.

Interested citizens should submit an application to the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners located in the Board of Commissioners Office at 1 Historic Courthouse Square, Suite 1, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Applications are available online at Henderson County Boards. Applications should be submitted  as soon as possible as the Board of Commissioners will begin appointing members at its February 18th meeting.
