Henderson County Zombie Run on November 4

The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Henderson County Soccer Association to present the Hunter Subaru Zombie Escape on Sunday, November 4th, at Camp Ton-A-Wandah. This 2 mile trail run will finish at the camp gymnasium where the Apocalypse Party will be underway. The run begins at 2pm with the party immediately following and lasting until 5pm.

There are three levels of participation for this event. Runner/escapee registration is $50 which includes event participation, entry into the Apocalypse Party, finisher's prize, and long-sleeved event shirt. Zombie registration is $35 and includes zombie transformation, entry into the Apocalypse Party, and long-sleeved event shirt. Individuals can also register to attend the Apocalypse Party for $20. Zombie Transformations begin at 11am the morning of November 4th. There are many discounts available throughout the community including for members of the Henderson County Soccer Association, the Henderson County Chamber, and the Four Seasons Running Club. Day of registrations will be accepted but discounts only apply to online pre-registration.

This first year event is not your average run. Runners will be given a flag belt with three health flags attached. As they run the course, zombie participants will have the goal of collecting runners' health flags. In order to finish the race as a "survivor", runners must cross the finish with at least one health flag remaining. There will be safe zones set up along the route where runners will have access to water without the threat of zombie attack. The event will wrap up at the gymnasium at Camp Ton-A-Wandah with the Apocalypse Party, where participants can celebrate their survival or new zombie transformation with food, beverages, and music. Beverages will be provided by Asheville Brewing Company, Oskar Blues, and Wal-Mart. Food will be provided by Hannah Flanagan's of Hendersonville.

Online registration is open. For more information and the link to register, visit www.zombieescape.hendersoncountysoccer.org or contact race directors Ellen Seagle at (828) 674-6087 or Nicole Laughter at (828) 692-1413.
