Art League of Henderson County Welcomes Hertha Flack and Virginia Rostick at Guest Artist Reception April 1

Two artists, Hertha Flack and Virginia Rostick, will be guest artists for the monthly exhibit in April for the Art League of Henderson County.

The exhibit will open Sunday, April 1, with a reception at the Opportunity House in Hendersonville, 1411 Asheville Highway, from 2 to 4 PM. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.

Inspired by a lifetime of travel, Hertha Flack's recent landscape paintings are rendered in bold, rich color. Her work is most often in the impressionistic style, occasionally tending toward abstract. Ms. Flack, who has painted for over 25 years and has had several successful one-person shows, has exhibited in numerous states and is a member of several art organizations. She now works mainly in acrylics.

She has studied with Carole Barnes, Carrie Brown, Maxine Masterfield and Mary Todd Beam. Her home and studio are in Tryon, North Carolina.

Virginia Rostick, who also resides in Tryon, paints mainly in the realistic style, her work dominated by her love of flowers and nature. Ms. Rostick has worked in oil and water color but presently uses mainly acrylic, working from her own photographs.

A high school art major, she was mostly self-taught until later life when she participated in classes with Carrie Brown, Janet Dreskin, Stephen Quiller and Darrel Koons. Her work is being shown at the Green Onion Caf in Landrum, S.C.
