Get ready to roll into excitement this May as Waynesville Recreation, in collaboration with Haywood County Recreation, proudly announces the debut of the Wayne Town Throw Down Skate Park Competition.

Set to take place on Saturday, May 18, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Waynesville Skate Park, this event promises thrills, skills, and unforgettable moments for participants and spectators alike.

Inspired by the passion and dedication of local Skate Park enthusiasts, including the esteemed Jared Lee, the Wayne Town Throw Down aims to celebrate the vibrant skating community in Waynesville and beyond. With the vision spearheaded by Jared Lee and Luke Kinsland, Waynesville’s Parks and Recreation Director, and early support from Haywood County, along with sponsorship from notable corporations like Pepsi and local businesses such as A-Z Signs, this event is set to make waves in the skating world.

The Wayne Town Throw Down will feature competitions tailored to all experience levels, ensuring there’s something for everyone. From beginners to seasoned pros, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and vie for top honors. The highlight of the event will be the eagerly anticipated Best Tricks competition, promising a spectacle of jaw-dropping stunts and maneuvers.

“The Skate Park serves as a hub of community and camaraderie for enthusiasts of all ages,” remarked Luke Kinsland, Waynesville’s Parks and Recreation Director. “We’re thrilled to provide a platform to honor their dedication and talent with the Wayne Town Throw Down.”

Even for those new to the skating scene, the event promises an atmosphere of inspiration and encouragement. Spectators are encouraged to join in the festivities, showing their support for the skating community and perhaps finding their motivation to embark on their skating journey.

“As advocates for community enrichment, we’re thrilled to partner with Waynesville Recreation in bringing the Wayne Town Throw Down to life,” said Elli Flagg, Haywood County’s Director of Recreation and Parks. “This event embodies the spirit of unity, skill, and celebration, and we look forward to seeing the incredible talent and camaraderie on display.”
