Western North Carolina AIDS Project to Commemorate World Aids Day on Wednesday, Dec. 1st

Join the Western North Carolina AIDS Project (WNCAP) as it commemorates its 35 Years of Caring campaign with a special World AIDS Day exhibit and screening in recognition of a Day With(Out) Art at the Asheville Art Museum on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Visual AIDS is a New York-based non-profit that utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, supporting HIV+ artists, and preserving a legacy, because AIDS is not over. Coinciding with World AIDS Day, Visual AIDS organizes annual observances of Day With(Out) Art, creating and distributing free video programs to universities, museums, and AIDS organizations to be screened on or around December 1.

For 35 years WNCAP has been finding healthcare, food, and housing solutions for thousands of the neediest of our neighbors. Our client caseload has surged nearly 30% in the last eighteen months, and still we have further to go. Every single day people and their families in our 18 county, 7200 square mile service areacontinue to turn to WNCAP for help.

Day With(Out) Art at the Asheville Art Museum

“Enduring Care,” a one-hour film featuring seven new videos highlighting strategies of community care within the ongoing HIV epidemic. “Enduring Care” will be on a continuous loop throughout the day from 11 am to 6 pm in the Museum’s multipurpose space on Level 1.

Posters located throughout the Museum share HIV-related statistics and information. Each of the five posters contain QR codes that link to audio recordings of Positive Voices from Western North Carolina people living and thriving with HIV. The museum is open Wednesday, December 1, from 11 am to 6 pm.
