Follow the Peak Fall Colors in Black Mountain

Black Mountain Recreation & Parks (BMRP) is excited to offer its annual Fall Peaks Hiking Series this October and November! This free hiking series will follow the peak fall colors through its different stages based on elevation.

Starting in early October, the first hike of the series will take place in upper elevations (6,000+ ft.), where the leaves change color first.

Each week, hiking locations will slowly decrease in elevation as the fall colors make their way down the mountains. By early November, the series will end at a lower elevation (less than 2,000 ft.) where leaves are expected to change last.

The 2021 Fall Peaks Hiking Series will include the following dates and locations:

October 1: Blackstock Knob (off Parkway)

October 8: Hawkbill Rock near Snowball Mountain (Off Parkway)

October 15: Brushy Mountain (Montreat)

October 22: Blue Ridge Pastures (Hickory Nut Gorge)

October 29: Glade Mountain (Christmount)

November 5: Mount Ida (Marion)

Registration is free but limited to 15 hikers per date. To learn more about each hike and sign up, visit the Black Mountain Recreation and Parks website or call BMRP at (828) 669-2052.
