New Farmers Market Coming to Hendersonville’s Seventh Avenue District

Beginning Saturday, May 9, downtown Hendersonville’s Seventh Avenue District will host a brand-new weekly farmers market!

With fresh produce, meats, flowers, baked goods, and more, the Hendersonville Farmers Market aims to be a world-class market that contributes to the success of local producers and growers, expands access to farm fresh foods, and creates a vibrant, walkable community gathering space.

The Hendersonville Farmers Market will take place at the Historic Train Depot on Maple Street every Saturday, 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., from May 9 until Oct. 31, with two holiday markets slated for Nov. 21 and Dec. 5.

Visitors can expect a lively atmosphere celebrating food, farm and family. Hendersonville Farmers Market organizers are recruiting a diverse lineup of producers and growers with a strong focus on Henderson County-made. Entertainment from local artists as well as themed events such as Kids’ Day and Pollinators’ Day will occur at the market regularly throughout the season. Food trucks will also be a staple, allowing visitors to enjoy breakfast or lunch on their market outing.

The Hendersonville Farmers Market will be coordinated and managed by the City of Hendersonville’s Downtown Program. “We are excited for this opportunity to support local products that are homegrown or handmade and see the market as a catalyst for local business health and customer growth in downtown overall,” said Downtown Economic Development Director Lew Holloway.

Hendersonville Farmers Market hopes to be a SNAP/EBT retailer and is exploring partnerships that would allow a “double your dollars” promotion for SNAP/EBT recipients.

The market has seen strong vendor interest with over 15 vendors already committed to the inaugural season. Those interested in vending should contact Market Manager Meredith Friedheim at [email protected] as soon as possible, as vending opportunities are limited.
