American Airlines is Adding Service to Chicago and Washington, D.C. at Asheville Regional Airport

American Airlines is adding nonstop, seasonal Saturday service to two destinations: Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. (DCA).

The service to DCA begins May 9, 2020 and will be offered on a regional 50-seat jet. Service to ORD also starts May 9, 2020, and will be offered on a CR7, 65-seat jet with dual-class service. Both routes will operate through October 31, 2020.

“American has shown significant commitment to the western North Carolina market,” said Lew Bleiweis, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority.  “They continue to add seats and service, broadening their vast ability to connect travelers to and from our region. The connectivity American offers is very important to the quality air service available at AVL, and these two additional nonstop options are excellent routes now available to travelers.”

“We wanted to provide our loyal customers in Asheville a convenient schedule with nonstop service to Chicago and Washington D.C. during the peak summer months,” said Jason Reisinger, American’s Managing Director, Network Planning. “These flights also will provide additional opportunities for customers to explore all that Asheville has to offer, including nature, great weather and southern hospitality.”
