Jackson County NAACP to Host Climate Presentation on Saturday, Sept. 21

Members of the Jackson County branch of the NC NAACP will meet at 10:00 am on Saturday, Sept. 21, to discuss the ongoing climate crisis. The event is free and open to the public.

The discussion will take place at 11:00 am in the downstairs Fellowship Hall of the Liberty Baptist Church in Sylva, NC. The program, titled “Combating the Climate Crisis,” will be presented by Steffi Rausch, Lead Organizer for the Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL).

The CCL is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change. The organization teaches supporters to work on concerns in their local community.

Recently, the organization successfully worked with congress to introduce The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (H.R. 763) of 2019. CCL supports this bill, and is working towards its re-introduction in the Senate, and its passage through Congress
