WNC Repair Cafés Return in 2019

After a successful first year, WNC Repair Cafe has returned to Living Web Farms for several events in 2019. The next session takes place Tuesday, October 8.

Participants will enjoy free hands-on help repairing broken household items.

A Repair Café is a place where volunteers lend their skills and offer instruction with common household repairs.   Patrons are invited to bring in anything broken – from lawnmowers to coffee pots, and ripped jeans to tangled fishing poles – anything you can imagine.  Volunteers at Repair Cafes around the world believe that there is value in knowing how to repair, instead of replacing your items, and offer these repairs at no cost to any and all members of the community.

In the first year, volunteers at WNC Repair Cafe attempted over 160 repairs with an average 80% success rate.  Visitors learned small engine tune ups, how to sharpen tools, diagnose and repair simple electrical problems, and much more.   In addition, while waiting their turn, visitors could explore other repair work, meet other motivated community members and enjoy some coffee and organic, in-season foods from the kitchen at Living Web Farms.

The upcoming WNC Repair Cafe session take place October 8 from 5:00 pm to  8:00 pm at the Living Web Farms’ Biochar Facility at 220 Grandview Ln, Hendersonville, NC.

Early registration helps the team plan, and increases the chance of a successful repair.  Sign up early at www.livingwebfarms.org/workshops for priority service. Visit the website for more details visit www.livingwebfarms.org/WNCrepaircafe or follow on Facebook at www.facebook.com/WNCRepairCafe/.
