The Apple Festival Race is one of the oldest, annual running events in Henderson County. It returns Saturday, August 31, with something for runners of every level!

Throughout the years the event has changed organizers, distances, sponsors, and locations; however, the tradition around it remains: kicking off the Apple Festival weekend with a run through our beautiful town.

The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce has been proud to present the Apple Festival 8K with the support of area businesses for the past decade, with the goal of promoting healthy living in Henderson County. Throughout that time two additional events have been added to what is now known as the Apple Festival Races: the Chick-Fil-A Mini Moo Mile and the Chamber Challenge Team 5K. With addition of these events, the Apple Festival Races offer something for runners of all levels.

The 8K follows a certified course, winding through scenic Hendersonville and Laurel Park, starting and ending at the Pardee UNC Health Care Cancer Center at 805 6th Ave. West in Hendersonville. The race begins promptly at 8 am. The entry fee for the 8K race is $30 if registered on or before August 30th, or $40 on the day of the race.

The Chamber Challenge Team 5K consists of groups of four friends, family members, and co-workers. This event also starts and ends at the Pardee UNC Health Care Cancer Center and will start with the 8K participants at 8 am sharp. The Chamber Challenge 5K registration fee is $100 for a team of four and the team must be registered by August 30th.

The Chick-Fil-A Mini Moo Mile is a one-mile fun run-walk for the young or young at heart and will start a few minutes after the 8K race begins. The entry fee for the 1-mile event is $10 and can be registered in advance or the day of the race for the same price. Singlets are not included for the Mini Moo Mile, but each participant receives a finisher’s prize.

Race-day registration for the 8K and Mini Moo Mile event starts at 6:30 am. All fun run participants receive a finish award and awards for the 8K and 5K races will be given to the overall male and female, masters, and top three finishers in the standard age groups.
