Pardee UNC Health Care is partnering with the Flat Rock Park Foundation to introduce “Pardee in the Park,” a new initiative that will offer programs for the public to meet Pardee medical providers and staff, get active, and learn more about health and wellness topics.
The first program, Walk & Talk, invites groups to walk the trail with a Pardee provider, hear about their area of expertise and ask questions. The first Walk & Talk will be led by John Kogoy, M.D., of Pardee Surgical Associates and will take place on Wednesday, July 17 at 5:30 pm at the Park at Flat Rock, located at 55 Highland Golf Drive. Those who would like to attend should wear comfortable walking shoes and meet Dr. Kogoy at the pavilion.
In addition to the July 17 event, upcoming Walk & Talks at The Park at Flat Rock will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 9 am with Amelia Martin, PA-C, of Pardee Bariatrics & Weight Loss, and Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 5:30 pm with providers from Pardee Cardiology Associates. Additional dates and topics will be added in the coming weeks.
“Pardee is always looking for new approaches to deliver high-quality health care and education to our patients and community,” said Amy Treece, community and government relations officer for Pardee UNC Health Care. “Through our partnership with the Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation, we are now able to do that in a manner that will not only suit a person’s active lifestyle but enhance it. We are thrilled to be able to partner with such an incredible public park and offer opportunities for people to be active and connect with our providers.”
“It has been the vision of the Village of Flat Rock, The Flat Rock Park Commission and The Flat Rock Park Foundation to preserve this public park for its beauty and nature as well as provide opportunities for recreation and education that add to the quality of the lives of the park users,” said Tracey Daniels, development director of the Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation. “We are excited to bring this expansion of services to the community through one of the area’s nationally ranked health institutions.”
