Ten grants totaling $55,500 were recently awarded to nonprofits by the Ramble Charitable Fund at The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC).
With these grants, total grantmaking since 2008 is $344,906. The Ramble Charitable Fund was established to improve the quality of life in designated Buncombe County communities by supporting education, economic development, health care and other projects that promote community development.
Recent grants include:
Arts For Life was awarded $7,500 for educational arts-based support services to pediatric patients and their family members in treatment at Mission Children’s Hospital’s Reuter Outpatient Center.
Asheville Area Arts Council was awarded $7,500 for an arts and wellness program that offers free hands-on classes in drawing, ceramics, mixed media and yoga to veterans and their families.
Carolina Day School/Horizons was awarded $7,500 to support students from Avery’s Creek Elementary attending a summer enrichment program at Carolina Day School.
Children First/Communities In Schools of Buncombe County was awarded $7,500 for an in-school program that helps at-risk youth succeed in school.
Getting Back To The Basics was awarded $5,000 for a Shiloh community summer camp program.
Guardian ad Litem Association of Buncombe County was awarded $1,500 to send children who are in DSS care to a summer camp.
North Carolina Arboretum Society was awarded $5,000 to work with five Roberson school district teachers to develop an environmental education course in their schools.
Skyland United Methodist Church/Bridges Reading Enrichment Program was awarded $3,500 to help 11 first-grade children improve reading skills.
T.C. Roberson High School was awarded $3,000 to purchase equipment for the new pool.
T.C. Roberson Rams Club Inc. was awarded $7,500 to purchase and install a retractable custom cover for the baseball stadium’s special needs seating area.
The Community Foundation works with families, businesses and nonprofits to strengthen communities through the creation of charitable funds and strategic grantmaking.
