Smoky Mountain Relay Returns April 26-27

The 11th annual Smoky Mountain Relay will start this Friday morning at the Pink Beds Picnic area in Pisgah National Forest and make its way on roads and trails for over two hundred miles, ending on Saturday at the Nantahala Outdoor Center.

This year’s event brings runners from 26 different states to join teams of 12 or “ultra” teams of 6, trading off over the 36 legs of the race.

Leslie Grotenhuis, one of the race directors and owner of Kick It Event Management, says “we are so excited to have runners from every area of the country represented. This is a great way to show off our beautiful mountains.”

Race starts with rolling starting times on Friday, April 26 from 5:30 am to 12:00 pm. The estimated ending times are on Saturday, April 27 from between 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
