Youth OUTright is asking the community to chip in to help the organization continue operations through the new year.
If you value the work that Youth OUTright does with the LGBTQIA+ youth in our community, now is the time to act. The organization needed to raise $12,000 in their end-of-year campaign for a updated focus, and they were able to raise just half that amount. For 2018, the board of directors decided to take a risk by hiring two full time co-directors and renting space for youth meetings. They used all their reserves and have realized that the model is not sustainable.
On Thursday, January 10, the board of directors will meet to vote on whether they can find a sustainable restructuring plan or if the best course of action is to dissolve. In order to restructure, the organization is seeking new board members to bring fresh perspective, commitment to the work, and time to dedicate.
If you want to see Youth OUTright continue to serve the Western North Carolina region, please contact one of the organization members before the meeting. You can email the following address if you would like to join the board or volunteer: [email protected] and/or [email protected].
