Malaprop’s Pop-up Bookstore Heads to Hendersonville

Hendersonville book lovers will be happy to know that a new Malaprop’s Books pop-up bookstore will open at 125 S. Main Street in February 2019 in the new performing arts space, The Center for Art & Inspiration.

Customers will have access to the inventory of the main store without having to drive to Asheville, and will be able to place orders that can be picked up in Hendersonville. Book clubs, author events, and literary festivals are all in the works for our new location too, in partnership with our host.

Located in the building currently occupied by Flat Rock Playhouse Downtown, The Center will include professional theatre from Murder Mystery Theatre under the direction of Broadway veteran Jimmy Ferraro (including My Big Fat Italian Murder Mystery, The Improper Royal Tea Murder, and Murder on the High Cs) to The Center Stage “Star” Series featuring “Liberace,” “Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis,” “John Denver,” and “Barbra.”

International touring shows to be presented by The Center at Blue Ridge Community College’s Bo Thomas Auditorium include In The Mood, the 1940s Big Band Musical Revue, and the original London production ABBAMANIA. A Repertory Theatre Troupe will be showcased in Off-Broadway’s Buyer and Cellar and Church Basement Ladies.

Storytellers, musicians, authors, and innovators will be added to the calendar, as will a series of classes on art, writing, and performance.

The grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2019.

All shows are on sale now and Malaprop’s subscribers receive $5 off each ticket with the code BOOK until 12/31/18. For more information, please call The Center for Art & Inspiration at 828-697-8547 or by emailing [email protected].
