Fresh at Farmers Markets This Month

With the recent advertising blitz of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, it’s nearly impossible not to think about holiday shopping. Area farmers markets host holiday markets across the region to give you the opportunity to find the perfect gift, all while buying fresh, locally grown groceries.

Each market has a diversity of items, and products and vendors may vary from week to week at a given market. What might you find if you visit one of these markets? An array of produce; value-added gifts such as honey, jams, spices, cookies; crafts, including knitted items, pottery, jewelry, cutting boards, prints; wellness items like tinctures, essential oils, body products; and holiday decorations of wreaths, trees, etc.

Here in the central mountains, there are multiple markets happening throughout December:

Asheville City Market: Outside at the regular location on Market Street through December 15, 9 am-noon;

East Asheville Holiday Market: December 14, 3:30-7 pm, inside Groce United Methodist Church Asbury Hall;

Madison County Farmers & Artisans Holiday Market: Saturdays through December 15, 10 am-1 pm, inside Spilman Hall on Mars Hill University campus;

North Asheville Holiday Bazaar: Saturdays through December 15, 10 am-1 pm;

Weaverville Tailgate Winter Market: Wednesdays through December 19th, 2-6 pm, inside Honey and the Hive;

West Asheville Holiday Market: Tuesdays through December 18, 2:30-6 pm, inside The Mothlight.
