Transylvania County Candidates Forum on Sept. 20

The Brevard-Transylvania Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidates Forum on Thursday, Sept. 20 beginning at 5:30 pm in the Rogow Room at the Transylvania County Library.

The event will begin with the Transylvania County Board of Education race with candidates Joe Castro, Courtney Domokur, Marty Griffin, and Richard Kimsey Jackson competing for two seats. That will be followed by the race for Transylvania County Sheriff with candidates William Hemphill and David Mahoney. Up next will be the race for Transylvania County Commissioners with candidates Will Cathey, David Guice, Mike West, and Davis Whitfield-Cargile competing for two seats. The evening will finish with Norm Bossert and Chuck Edwards for the NC State Senate District 48 race and Sam Edney and Cody Henson for the NC House of Representatives District 113 race. The two state races will be combined in one panel. Tad Fogel, former broadcasting professional, will serve as moderator.

The Brevard-Transylvania Chamber of Commerce is an unbiased, non-partisan organization that hosts the annual Candidates Forum as a community service. The event is organized by the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee. It is designed to provide citizens a unique opportunity to learn more about candidates and their platforms for key local and state races. The public is encouraged to attend in support of their community and the elected officials who serve it.

Questions are selected in advance of the event by the committee with the goal of obtaining relevant information from the candidates in a fair manner. Input from the public is welcomed.
