Music on Main, the increasingly popular concert series, has returned to Downtown Historic Hendersonville this summer. Concerts take place every Friday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Admission is free to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair. The audience seating area opens after 5:30 pm; early admission is prohibited. Visitors should leave pets at home because city ordinances prohibit animals in the event area.
The August 17th concert features The Company Stores, a Hill Hop band from Charleston, WV, that smoothly blends elements of many genres of southern music. They pull inspiration from styles such as Appalachian folk, Delta Blues, Rock, Jam Band, and even Hip Hop, then layer in their own modern styles and rhythms. Vocalist Casey Litz’s sultry and soulful voice captivates the audience, while the band lays down danceable grooves between dynamic builds.
Michael Arrowood, Event Coordinator for the Henderson County Tourism Development Authority, says Music on Main Street is an event the local community and summertime visitors really look forward to each year. “We start getting calls early in the spring, asking when the music will be held. It’s really a multigenerational event, very family-friendly. Bands mostly play rock oldies, beach music and soul from the ’50s through the ’80s—fun songs people love to dance to and that everyone knows. We’re bringing back many of the crowd’s favorite bands, along with some they haven’t seen in a few years.”
Cars shows are held every Friday evening in conjunction with Music on Main. The car shows alternate between classic cars and Corvette nights. The cars are located in front of the Visitor Center, between Allen Street and Caswell Street, which will be closed to traffic.
