Brevard Old Time Street Dances

Old Time Street Dances return to downtown Brevard’s East Main Street every Tuesday now through August, providing an Appalachian take on the square dance.

Live music and free dance instruction begin at 6:30 pm, with dancers taking over the stage from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Joe Smith returns as the caller for this year’s season, and Carolina Blue will provide live music. Carolina Blue is a Brevard-based band whose roots run deep in the tradition of Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs.

There will a be a children’s circle at each dance, so bring your children and have them join the fun!

The tradition of bluegrass music and square dancing returned to Brevard in 1998 after a lapse of over 30 years. It has been an annual event ever since. Everyone is welcome to come and dance or just listen. No experience is needed. These events are fun for the entire family from tots to grandparents. The dances are paid for by donations from local merchants and individuals.
