Join the Carolina Mountain Club as they work to restore a remote section of the A.T. near Hot Springs, NC on this weekend overnight work trip. This is an important trip because remote sections of the Trail are logistically more difficult to conduct large-scale projects on. The club needs your help to ensure that even these sections of the Trail are well maintained for all who enjoy it.

This is a great opportunity for a wide variety of skill levels. Volunteers will be able to work alongside experienced trail maintainers and all tools will be provided. Those under 18 are welcome to attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Take this opportunity to make a difference on the Trail as well as make new friends and connections in your community.

Participants should wear sturdy boots, long pants, and work gloves. Participants should bring plenty of water, rain gear, bug repellent, snacks and meals for the extent of the trip, and sun protection. The meals participants should prepare for are: one breakfast, two lunches, and one dinner. Also, pack layers and gear necessary for cool weather camping as well as a change of clothes to sleep in.

The group will camp at the Spring Mountain shelter which is a 1.7-mile hike and 600-foot elevation gain from parking. There is a privy and water source close to the shelter. The shelter sleeps 5 people. Plan on camping at the area surrounding the shelter, bring a suitable tent or hammock and gear for cool weather camping.

The work trip will conclude at the carpool location around 2 pm on Sunday. Advance registration is necessary and participation is limited. Please fill out this form to register your participation: https://www.carolinamtnclub.org/eventform.cfm
