Lorraine Neilson, D.O., F.A.C.O.I., was recently honored by the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) for excellence in the practice of internal medicine. The ACOI is a national medical specialty society representing more than 3,500 osteopathic internists and medical sub-specialists.The Honorary Degree of Fellow in the ACOI (FACOI) was presented to Dr. Neilson in a ceremony witnessed by more than 200 of her peers, family and friends. To qualify for this degree, a physician must demonstrate continuing professional accomplishments, scholarship and professional activities, including teaching, research and community service. Dr. Neilson earned her undergraduate degree from Alfred University College of Nursing in Alfred, N.Y., her master’s degree in Nursing from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo., and her medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Neilson is board-certified in Internal Medicine and practices at Laurel Park Medical Centre.
