The health center is a joint collaboration of Mission Hospitals and Pardee Hospital and will be located on the Buncombe and Henderson county line. In addition to the letter of understanding, both counties have approved the facility plans along with building permits.

The signing of this document today will allow Pardee and Mission to move forward with the Health campus project. The letter of understanding details key points of medical services, land ownership, operations of the health campus, and management services. The project is currently planned as a two-level, approximately 80,000 square foot building. In addition to wellness and prevention programs, proposed services include imaging, urgent care, outpatient rehab, retail pharmacy, laboratory, conference and administrative space, and 20,000 square feet of physician office space.

Pardee Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital founded in 1953 and is the first and only hospital in North Carolina to be accredited with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9001:2008) for quality healthcare standards. The main hospital is licensed for 222 acute care beds and is the second largest employer in Henderson County. The hospital has several locations separate from the main campus, including a comprehensive physician practice network, an adult day services center, a health education center in the Blue Ridge Mall, home health services, a rehab and wellness center, a midwifery program and an urgent care facility.
