Soprano Lynn Nichols and pianist Dr. Ricky Duckett will perform many of the most well known and best loved spirituals from our American heritage including Swing Low, Sweet Chariot and Balm in Gilead. Commentary on the history of spirituals as well as the composition of these beautiful American Art Songs will also be shared.

Lynn Nichols, a dramatic soprano, earned an Associate in Fine Arts degree in the music program at Blue Ridge Community College. Her studies continued at Converse College where she earned both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees. With her focus primarily on religious music, Lynn is a frequent soloist in area churches. She has also been a concert soloist at Brevard College and with the Carolina Chamber Singers, Cantabile, and The Hendersonville Chorale.

Asheville native Dr. Ricky David Duckett is in his third year as Director of Music and Organist at Grace Lutheran Church. He has performed solo recitals on both organ and piano as well as many recitals as an accompanist for chamber music during his career as a professional musician.

While living in Charleston, South Carolina, he performed with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra for four seasons and with the renowned Spoleto Festival USA each summer. He has also played under the baton of conductor Joanne Valletta, currently the world�s foremost woman conductor.
