Henderson County Schools Announce the 2011 Top Scholars


The Henderson County Public Schools recognized the 2011 Top Scholars during a banquet at the Blue Ridge Community College Technology Education and Development Conference Center. The Henderson County Board of Public Education has sponsored the event for the past seven years.

The top 15 students from each of the four high schools were recognized. Parents, school principals, school senior counselors, School Board members and community leaders attended to the banquet to celebrate the students� achievements. East Henderson High School�s Air Force JROTC presented the colors. Rane� Stepp, a Henderson County Public Schools graduate, was the guest soloist. She sang a beautiful rendition of God Bless America. Former HCPS superintendent, Stephen L. Page, was the keynote speaker. Dr. Page spoke about gratitude. The banquet was catered by the school system�s Child Nutrition Department. Key Club members from North Henderson High served the guests. LIFETOUCH National School Studios took group pictures of the top scholars.

David L. Jones, Superintendent of the Henderson County Public Schools, said, �These seniors have achieved success not only in the classroom but also in other endeavors during their high school careers. We are very proud of their accomplishments and recognize that along the way many adults have had a positive impact on their lives. We would like to thank the parents, grandparents, and all others who have had a strong influence in helping shape their character and mindset for success.�
