The 2010 Census Portrait of America Road Tour will pull into Buncombe County and the WNC Farmer's Market on Saturday, March 13 at 11 a.m. They will be giving away loads of goodies and have Census staff available to answer questions and take job applications for US Census job openings.The tour is designed to educate the public about the 2010 census, inspire interest in the process and encourage participation. Saturday, March 13 2010 Census Road Tour attendees will have the opportunity to see a sample census form like the one that will arrive in their mailbox and 130 million other mailboxes nationwide this month. At Census Road Tour events, participants can learn about the positive impact their participation can have on their local community and the nation. Census data is used to apportion seats in Congress and directly affects how more than $400 billion per year in federal funding is distributed to state, local and tribal governments.
