Bright Star Touring Theatre, a professional touring theatre company based in Asheville, NC, and
Asheville Community Theatre (ACT), the oldest community theatre in Western North Carolina, are
proud to announce “Saturdays at ACT,” a new family theatre series premiering in October 2010. Eight
of Bright Star Touring Theatre’s shows will be performed on Saturdays throughout ACT’s 2010-11
season at family friendly prices.“We are excited to partner with ACT to offer our family programming to a wider audience,” said David Ostergaard, co-founder of Bright Star Touring Theatre. “ACT is a true community resource!” The shows that will be offered will be appropriate for ages 3 to adult and feature a variety of topics, from fairy tales and world literature to local and national history. Bright Star shows are cast with professional actors from across the United States, and each cast tours throughout the South and Mid- Atlantic regions of the country. Many shows are interactive and offer the opportunity for audience members to participate onstage. “Bright Star Touring Theatre has a great reputation throughout 16 states,” adds Susan Harper, Managing Director for Asheville Community Theatre. “With this partnership, we’ll be able to offer even more programming for families and children.”
