This year's national theme is "Black Women in America: Culture and History." Brevard College’s Library has a number of books available, including: "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings;" "Life upon These Shores: Looking at African American History 1513-2008;" "Beloved, Black Women in America;" "Michelle Obama: an American story," and "Inventing Black Women: African American Women Poets and self-representation." A variety of online resources are also available through the library, including: African American Women Writers of the 19th Century (N.Y. Public Library); African-American Women (Duke University); American Women’s History: A Research Guide: African-American Women (Middle Tennessee State University); and the Literature Reference Center and Biography Reference Center (NC LIVE). Brevard College’s J.A. Jones Library is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
