The City of Asheville is Seeking Help for Bele Chere


Located in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, Bele Chere showcases local, regional, and national entertainment on four stages during the weekend-long event. Now in its 32nd year, the festival books over 60 entertainers ranging from bands and single musicians to roving entertainers to highlight the cultural diversity of the area.

The City of Asheville is now accepting applications for 2010 Bele Chere positions. So come pitch in and be a part of the team.

Entertainment Selection Committee:

Community members are encouraged to apply to participate in the selection of local and regional bands to perform at the 2010 Bele Chere Festival being held July 23-25. All Entertainment Selection Committee applications must be completed and returned to Cristin Corder Lee at ccorderlee@hendersonvillenc.gov by Friday, February 12th 2010. The application is available at www.belecherefestival.com.

Entertainers:

The City is looking for entertainers to perform at the 2010 Bele Chere Festival being held July 23-25. All applications must be postmarked or submitted online through www.sonicbids.com by the deadline of Friday, February 12th, 2010. The application is downloadable at www.belecherefestival.com or bands can apply online at www.sonicbids.com.

Artists:

Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is issuing a call for artists to create the official artwork for the 32nd annual Bele Chere festival being held July 23 – 25, 2010. Completed artwork submissions must be received no later than March 1st, 2010. The chosen artwork will be used in all festival merchandise, including the official event poster. The winning artist will receive $1,500, will be highlighted in related press materials, and autograph posters at the festival. Bele Chere is the largest free, outdoor street festival in the Southeast, with an attendance of approximately 300,000 annually.
