2017 Mad Mountain Mud Run to Have Over 30 Muddy Obstacles

The 2017 Mad Mountain Mud Run presented by Pardee UNC Health Care is gearing up for its muddiest season yet. The event, held on June 3rd, promises to have more than 30 obstacles along the three-plus mile course featuring mostly new challenges.

Teams and individuals interested in participating have a few weeks left to register and can do so at madmountainmudrun.com. Registration will close mid-May or when max capacity is reached.

The course will welcome racers with a few familiar obstacles including mud pits, rolls and crawls, and some climbing challenges, but to keep things new, the mud run committee is introducing an obstacle competition. Local businesses who become obstacle sponsors will get the chance to bring their creativity to the course by creating and building their own obstacle. “This is just another way we are keeping things fresh this year,” says Heather Boeke, Executive Director of Hands On! “We don’t want our racers to expect the same obstacles every year.” After completing the course, racers will be invited to vote for their favorite obstacle created by one of the many obstacle sponsors. The winning sponsor will receive a special award to hang in their business, marketing benefits, and bragging rights.

Obstacle sponsorships are still being accepted. Businesses who would like to create an obstacle and be a part of the competition voted on by participants can contact Heather Boeke at 697-8333 or learn more and register at madmountainmudrun.com.
