Brevard Music Center Announces Free December Concert

Brevard Music Center (BMC), in partnership with Brevard College, is pleased to announce the December program for its First Mondays series of free BMC Community Concerts in Brevard.

On Monday, December 5th at 12:30 PM at Brevard College’s Porter Center (Scott Concert Hall), violinist Jason Posnock and pianist Jihye Chang will showcase the dramatic music of two prominent Russian and Spanish composers in the final First Mondays concert of 2016.

“The First Mondays concerts provide a wonderful opportunity for Brevard Music Center to share music with our community throughout the year,” said Mr. Posnock, who is also BMC’s Director of Artistic Planning and Educational Programs. “It is a particular joy for me to perform on the Series, collaborate with a treasured colleague, and play music that is special to me for people who make an impact every day.”

December’s program will include Manuel de Falla’s Suite Populaire Espagnole, Sergei Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in D major, and other works for violin and piano.

The popular Brevard-based First Mondays recital series is presented at no cost to the general public – October through May (excluding January) – on the first Monday of each month at Brevard College. BMC’s series of free concerts in Asheville (Sundays with BMC) and Hendersonville (Chamber Music Tuesdays) will resume March through May of 2017.

Each First Mondays concert also features a local charity highlighting needs within the Brevard community. December’s charity is the Brevard Ballet.
