“Lumberyard Springtide” Exhibition at The Haen Gallery

The Haen Gallery is proud to present “Lumberyard Springtide,” a collection of stunning new work by Dan Kaufman, Pelegero Agustí, and Evan Boggess, as well as new work by other Haen Gallery artists.

The exhibit will open for previews on Thursday, April 23rd, with the opening reception on Friday, April 24th from 5:00-8:00pm. The exhibition will run through the end of May.

Born in Valencia and now residing in Gandia, Spanish artist Pelegero Agustí creates in the Mediterranean style of plein air painting. Each canvas captures the poetic subtlety of the lived experience. Agustí attempts to shape his vision in a real and intense way, painting with honesty and freshness, giving importance to the loose and expressive brushwork.

A passionate artist who began his love affair for photography at an early age, Dan Kaufman lives in Savannah, Georgia. As his life gathered steam and form, muses such as Rothko, then Wright, then Neutra began shaping Kaufman’s work. His voice, his hand, became minimalistic. Today he seeks in his work the intrinsic nature, the indispensable quality, and the abstract nature that determines its character.

Pressure, heat, and time are conditions that shape earth’s metamorphic minerals. They are also some of the conditions that guide the development of Evan Boggess’s painted abstractions. Pressure becomes the illusory depth in the pictorial space. Heat becomes a property of color, and time becomes the gradual accumulation of paint on a surface.

The exhibit will also feature new work by Mark Carter, Ben Nixon, Theresa Reuter, Mark Connelley, Holly Irwin, and Marlise Newman.

The Haen Gallery’s Brevard location is at 200 King Street, Brevard, NC 28712.
