Hendersonville Downtown Project Honored

A local project was recently recognized for its excellence in the 2014 N.C. Main Street Awards competition.

NC Main Street Center Director Liz Parham and NC Secretary of Commerce John E. Skvarla presented the City of Hendersonville and local Landscape Architecture firm Luther Smith & Associates with an award for Best Outdoor Space Improvement for the Downtown Hendersonville Main Street Streetscape Rehabilitation Project.

The award was given during the North Carolina Main Street Annual Awards Ceremony at the City of Morganton Municipal Auditorium in Morganton, NC.

The North Carolina Main Street Conference is the state’s largest downtown revitalization event, offering learning sessions, tours, time for downtown exploration and opportunities for networking with downtown professionals, elected officials, volunteers and consultants. Attendees will learn how to use the principles of Main Street® in innovative combinations to open businesses, create activities and improve the physical environment of downtown in order to draw attention to their communities and attract people back to Main Street to live, work and play.
