Brevard Music Center and WNC Film Society Announce Partnership

The Brevard Music Center and the WNC Film Society announce a new partnership bringing together the beauty and excitement of film and music.

BMC and WNCFS will collaborate on projects during the Music Center’s season and throughout the year that explore the vital role music plays in movies. Inter-disciplinary activities will include film screenings, lectures, panel discussions, concerts, and more.

The inaugural project of this new partnership will be a special event on July 9, during the Brevard Music Center season – Melody Defines Story in Short Films. BMC and WNCFS will explore the impact of music on movies focusing on film shorts, followed by a panel discussion with industry experts.

The Brevard Music Center is one of America’s premier summer training programs for young musicians. More than 400 students, 70 faculty members, and famous guest artists from throughout the U.S and around the world come together each summer to present over 80 concerts in seven weeks. The 2015 BMC season runs from June 18 – August 2. Subscription packages are available now. Single tickets will be available online April 1; the box office opens on the BMC campus on May 1. Visit BrevardMusic.org for more information and call 828.862.2105 to purchase tickets.

The WNCFS is committed to bringing great films to the mountains. The sixth season of screening independent feature films, documentaries, foreign films and collection of short films (that may not play in the WNC area) boosts of a new venue centrally located to include more of the Asheville area. The season runs from March through October at the Grace Centre located at 495 Cardinal Road in Mills River, right off of Highway 280, just west of the Asheville Airport. The next event is on Tuesday, March 24 – “Shining Night: A Portrait of Composer Morten Lauridsen.” Visit Wncfilmsociety.com for more information or to become a member.
