2015 Western North Carolina Regional Scholastic Art Awards

The Asheville Art Museum, with the assistance of its volunteer docents, partners each year with the Asheville Area Section of the American Institute of Architects to sponsor the Western North Carolina Regional Scholastic Art Awards.

Students in grades 7-12 from all across our region are invited to submit work for this special juried competition, and the Museum features the artwork of award recipients in an exhibition.

Each year we continue to be amazed by the artistic talents of Western North Carolina students.

This year Asheville Art Museum received more than 800 entries of which 123 were recognized by the judges to be featured in the exhibition, on view through March 8.

The 2015 Regional Judges were Bill Byers, Carol Bomer and Court McCracken. The judges carefully viewed each entry then selected Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention award recipients in a variety of media.

The award recipients will be honored at a ceremony on February 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Diana Wortham Theatre. Regional Gold Key recipients’ work will be sent to the National Scholastic Art competition in New York City.
