The Henderson County Solid Waste Division will hold the final 2014 Household Hazardous Waste collection event on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Henderson County Convenience Center, located at 265 Convenience Center Drive from 9am until noon.
The Solid Waste Division hosts these events annually for the citizens of Henderson County to provide safe recycling and disposal of household chemicals and cleaners, pesticides, insecticides, thermostats, and liquid paint.
With the exception of liquid paint, which incurs a $2 per liquid gallon fee (cash or check only) for recycling, all other items may be brought in free of charge. During the August event, 82 vehicles came through and dropped off hundreds of gallons of liquid paint, plus thousands of pounds of household cleaning chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers. It is important to note that all items brought to the Convenience Center during these events should be kept in original containers or packaging, if possible, and should be handled with care.
