Although we are a screen free school, and our families typically limit screens at home, about this time of year we all get a little lax with our boundaries. That is why AWS is partnering with other Waldorf schools across the country as registered participants in National Screen Free Week as part of the Waldorf 100 celebrations!
We challenge you and your family to go a whole week – 7 DAYS! – with no screens!
To kick things off we are hosting an All-School Play Date at the Carrier Park Picnic Pavilion on Monday, April 28 right after school. Bring your kick balls, hula hoops, bubbles and any other outdoor toys that you enjoy. Also feel free to bring a picnic dinner and cook out on the several grills available! (Rain date Thurs, May 2)
We will also have bookmarks from Dancing Bear Toys, another participating member of Screen Free Week, to hand out to any child who wants to track their screen free days. Any bookmark completed with all 7 days checked off at the end of the week will be able to turn it back in to the store for a $5 coupon!
On Tuesday, April 29, from 4-7pm Hillside Games will host a Family Board Game Night just for our families! Come join us for a family night of fun and interaction! Hillside games has a large area with several big wooden tables that can accommodate multiple groups playing different games at a time. Come play your family favorites and try out something new!
And on Saturday, May 4 we will be hosting our annual May Faire – the perfect bookend to Screen Free Week!
