Barley's Taproom:
Probably the best known pub in Asheville, not only for its beer, but its fine selections of pizza.
There are always 40 beers on tap, including many locals (although they serve no products from Miller or Coors). Barley's does not brew in house, but Highland Ale (the most popular local ale)
is headquartered in the Barley's Taproom basement. Among their other local brews are Greenman and Cottonwood ales. Barley's Taproom is located at 42 Biltmore Ave. in Asheville, NC, and
25 West Wahington in Greenville, SC. 255-0504
Blue Rooster:
This pub can be easily spotted in the wild by its colorful logo, and shining brew-kegs that can be seen while driving Biltmore Ave. The Blue Rooster not only specalizes in fine, in-house brewed beers, but has an extensive
wine list and enough southern cuisine to fill the bellies of even the most voracious of epicurians. Some of the in-house faves are Pale Ale, Kiss's Own (named for its smoothness like a kiss), and Altamont 1797 (brewed in the German tradition).
The Blue Rooster is located at 48 Biltmore Ave. 281-4500
Two Moons Brew & View:
This is probably the most unique brew pub in Western NC. It combines a restaurant/brew pub with a movie theater. The theater is equipt with tables at every seat to allow for relaxation with a glass of beer or a plate from the
menu. This makes for a highly enjoyable experience, even before the beer arrives! Rock Porter, Pisgah Pale Ale, and the mysterious Shiva IPA grace the list of normally 6 beers, which rotates seasonally. As an added bonus, Thursdays are $2 house pint nights.
Located at 675 Merrimon Ave. in North Asheville. 236-2774
